3 ways to protect your health (in a more holistic way!)

When you see posts about looking after your health, a lot of the time they are focused on either nutrition or moving your body on the daily. We know these things are super important and (the 80/20 rule and Pilates anyone?!), but there are other things that you need to consider as well when it comes to wellness. Taking a more holistic approach to glow from the inside out is something to think about as we all lead busy lives and things can sometimes slip under the radar! Let’s take a look at three things you may not always think about but are important when it comes to health and wellness.

Protecting your ears
People don’t tend to think about their hearing health when looking at ways to improve their health overall, but they should be! Protect your hearing by be aware of and avoiding loud and repetitive noises (check that earphone level is a good place to start!). This can be anything from going to a concert without earplugs to standing too close to a washing machine for too long when it is completing a cycle. It’s the little things that can actually have a big impact on our hearing. Anything that is as loud as a washing machine could be damaging your hearing. When in doubt, ear plugs are your best friend (and can also help with the third item on the list!)

Your cleaning products
This one might sound obvious, but sneaky harmful chemicals may be around without you realizing it! Some cleaning products contain harsh chemicals needed in order to clean certain surfaces, but that doesn’t make them any less harmful! Always opt for an environmentally friendly, non-toxic cleaning product where possible and if you need to use something more heavy duty make sure you protect yourself properly.

Prioritise sleep!
Finally, sleep is essential to health. If you’re not sleeping enough or getting deep, restful, good quality sleep then your body doesn’t have enough time to complete all the necessary processes to keep you as healthy as possible. Ideally, you need to be getting around seven hours per night, but we know that this isn’t realistic for everyone so try and find a routine that works best for you and your lifestyle.

We hope that you see some of the ways that you can go about protecting your health that you might not have thought of before. Your health is so much more than just what you eat and how much you exercise, and taking a holistic approach is SO important!
