Who is Brianna Watt?
Brianna Watt, is a girl in her early twenties, a dog mum, a nearly a qualified teacher, has a passion for health, fitness and self-love & loves to have a laugh & live positively! The past few years for her has been a roller coaster ride of changes in her mindset, mental and physical health and overall happiness. She’s in the best place mentally and loves to inspire other girls and women to love the bodies they have.
Positivity, embracing self-love and body positivity are a big part of your Instagram feed. Why are these things important to you as a young woman?
I believe these are SO important to embrace and spread this message to others – especially on social media. Social media is the place where a lot of girls and women go to for inspiration or motivation. Instead of filling up someone’s feed with the ‘perfect’ posts, which will only make them compare themselves and feel less worthy, I spread posts that are real, raw and relatable. The expectations that girls and women have on them these days are just ridiculous, so I thought it was about time to spread my views and opinions on self-love and body image. I believe it is SO important to love the body you have, and not spend your time trying to change or compare yourself to someone else. Being someone who has always been quite a negative person, it’s been one hell of a journey to get where I am now. I used to hate my body and I would put myself down every day. I would do anything to try and make it look like someone else’s, but after not seeing results as quick as I would have liked, I would give up. Fast forward three years, and I’m the happiest I’ve ever been! I am SO proud of how far I’ve come!
You have recently created a podcast called “A Blissful Mind”, tell us all about it!
YES! Honestly, the podcast was a spur of the moment kinda thing. It wasn’t something I had planned or thought about doing. It was only 2 days before I released my first episode, that I actually had the idea of creating one! Crazy, I know! So “A Blissful Mind” is all about self-love, positivity and body image. Pretty much everything I talk about on my Instagram! My purpose for the podcast is to spread my message about how to love your body the way it is and have a positive mindset and outlook on life. My first episode is all about my own self-love journey and the second episode is all about my thoughts on Instagram Vs reality and the pressure on young girls and women. I’m so excited to continue with my podcast and watch it grow! I’m so passionate about self-love and body image, so I don’t think I will ever run out of things to say.
What was your biggest lesson learnt in the last year?
That it doesn’t matter what people think of me and that comparing myself to others won’t get me anywhere. If I’m passionate about something, then I can talk about it and do it as much as I like. I used to be so worried about what people would think of me, and I would keep my passion for self-love and spreading positivity to myself. I’ve now realised that the more that I spread positivity and talk about self-love and confidence, the more confident I become.
Best piece of advice you have been given?
It would probably be to ‘treat yourself how you would treat your friends or family. With love, respect and kindness.’ Nothing is more important than that.
