You’ve got the qualification…now what?

SO many people go back into education at different points in their life. Education can become challenging to manage if you have a lot going on in other areas of your life! As soon as you decide to go back into up skilling and doing some study when you do already have responsibilities in other areas of your life, reality can hit and the practicalities of time management are critical. Going back into education to get that dream job and to explore new career options is an amazing opportunity, but it can still be a challenge finding the right job even though you’ve got a qualification. The big thing that most companies look for is experience, which while you are focusing on education is not always possible! So let’s explore two moves you can make so it doesn’t feel like a bit of an anti-climax when you finish your study…

Do Some Volunteer Work
Volunteer work is something you definitely can try with a company in the industry that’s related to what you are looking to move into. A lot of companies have unpaid internships that they run that will help you to get that valuable experience to help get your foot in the door of a company that really interests you. You could go to the other end of the scale and go and do volunteer work when practical and safe to do so. Both of these types of experience are fantastic for your resume and talking points in job interviews.

Partner With Companies Who Find Opportunities For You
Do you ever feel like all you’re doing is applying for jobs and hearing nothing back? The stress is very real with that sometimes and it can feel like you may have made the wrong decision putting everything on hold to go back into education when you can’t find work in the industry you are interested in. This is especially prevalent in competitive industries like the medical industry or veterinary industry. It often feels like as soon as a job in these industries comes up, it is filled almost just as quickly. So what can you do to get around that? Well, if you are looking for veterinary jobs, your first port of call should be to access resources like Vet Pet Jobs. Sites like this list all of the latest veterinary jobs and also have useful articles that give advice on getting into that industry successfully. But it doesn’t end there; you can also work with recruitment companies to try and find you the job that you would love to do. Again, if you are looking for a job that is going to be fiercely competitive, such as a Vet job, then this is a fantastic option as it will give you a foot up. This is not restricted to veterinary jobs though, as there are recruiters for anything from the medical industry to construction, so if you have a skilled qualification but are struggling to find a job, it might be time to get in touch to find the right match for your next opportunity.
